Terrible customer service at Costco in Union City, California. It was an emergency!

I went to Costco in Union City, California two days ago. I felt dizzy, so I had to take my medicine (Meclizine) right away to avoid the vertigo coming.I needed water. I went to the Pharmacy walking slowly as I was feeling safe pushing the cart. I was able to get some water. I called my husband up to come and get me. I waited for him sitting there. I couldn't stand up, I couldn't even explain what was going on to anybody. The cashier at the pharmacist realized I wasn't feeling well. When my husband came, I needed a wheelchair. Terrible service! There was no wheelchair. The cashier tried to reach the manager, and never came . They brought us an office chair. We tried , but it made me feel really dizzy. I felt terrible! My husband asked for the sore manager again; never showed up. You won't believe but nobody helped us. Nobody really cared. The manager never showed up. There was an emergency exit next to the chair where I was sitting on, so my husband wanted the manager to authorize the opening of this door, so he would bring our car next to it. That way it would have been easy for me to leave and be safe. But, as I said, it was totally incredible that nobody was able to help us. It was an emergency situation. I didn't need 911 just for a wheelchair. I needed the manager to handle an emergency situation. We needed help badly, and the only help we got was the employee pushing me on an office chair with 5 small wheels, unable to move myself straight, and making me feel a vertigo instead. Awful! So, my husband decided to take me out on a grocery cart. I don't know what he exactly did, but I left the store sitting on that cart......and still, nobody cared. Who was in charge of the Union City Costco store last Tuesdaay , August 26 2014? Whoever was in charge, doesn't deserve to be in that position. That position requires responsibility and care for the customers. The proof? The pharmacist, the employee, the cashiers of the pharmacist.

I don't understand why you people kept wanting a retail manager to come to your aid when an EMT is what you needed! Why didn't your husband call 911?

Guest

Try working there will having vertigo..

Guest

Normally they call first aid attendants and they have a wheelchair for emergency use only I wonder why the first aid was never called for you. The manager doesn't have to come to such situations .

Guest

If it was an emergency you should have called 911, you know the number specifically for emergencies. You think the manager of a big box retail store is an EMT? What exatlly were these people supposed to do for you?

Kirkland Hormel Fully Cooked Bacon # 10500 (Bait & Switch)

This may or may not be a big deal to you but I don't like it. I have bought this pack of bacon a half a dozen times. Ninety percent of the time the bacon you can see through the packaging looks great. The rest of the bacon you can't see looks like ***. Could be Costco's fault or it could be Hormel's fault. I just wish the bacon I see would look that good all the way through. False advertising. Since this was only 81 words, this last sentence is to complete the 100 word I need to complete the complaint.

Costco - Manager Review from Frisco, Texas

Got a phone from west Plano location today. The sales man who sold me the phone apparently was inexperienced and very slow to activate the phone. There was a sales manager at the kiosk too but she didn't seem to care to help out sped up the process. There was no other customer there at the time. she walked away from the kiosk until he texted her for help. She had a very unpleasant face all the time too. I saw no service spirit in her.

Rude arrogant cashier and supervisor costco pacific commons blvd fremont ca

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Driving back from an appointment with my quadriplegic son in our wheelchair van we decided to stop at the nearest Costco which turned out to be at 43621 Pacific Commons Blvd in Fremont CA. Since my wife didn't have her Costco Amex I gave her mine so she could go into the store for a few items while I tended to some problems with the wheelchair tie-downs in the van. She called from the store saying they would not allow her to charge on my card without me present. Obviously I could not leave our son to go into the store so I asked to speak to the person she was talking to. he said "I don't talk on the phone". Needless to say my wife left the store without her purchases. I fully understand the need for loss control and for all the cashier and supervisor knew she could be trying to charge on a stolen card. My complaint is the incredibly rude behavior of the two people she dealt with. Its easy to politely decline the purchase. Some one needs some training or needs to seek a different career. These people are the face of Costco. Who would want to see these individuals? We'll never go back there and I am seriously considering going to the competition rather than shop Costco in the future.

Preferred solution: Get some customer service training for the store manager on down. The tone is set at the top so I'd start by getting the store manager a little training.

I came into the same situation today, and I felt very disappointed with Costco Fremont Store. The cashier acted in a very rude manner and did not explain store rules to me, but her supervisor explained clearly to me. Customer service is very important to a store, and Costco should pay more attention on training cashiers.

Per your agreement with AMEX, cards are not transferable. Although it is inconvenient, but that's life. You can't always do what you want, you have to figure it out like an adult.

Guest

I have a reasonable adult solution to your problem, you go inside with your card and your wife stays with your son. You are making your own life more difficult.

Guest

A sound advice from a clear headed adult. Thumbs up.

Guest

It sometimes stinks from a customer's point if view, but Costco has policies they have to follow. Like you said, for all they know card your wife was using could have been stolen, and then the owner would have been thankful for this policy.

As for the phone comment, they probably are not allowed to handle customers phones for liability reasons: if the phone started acting up in the next six months or so some customers would claim it was the employees fault.

I understand your difficult situation with your son in the car, but that's really not any reason for Costco to bend the rules and after reading your complaint I really can't pinpoint any way they were rude, unless you left something out. Maybe next time if you have your card and your wife does not then you should go in while she stays at the van with your son.

Wireless Advocates dishonest and rude

My wife bought a phone without thinking from Wireless Advocated. Every cell phone company has a 1 month return - not wireless Advocates at Costco. My wife came back after 10 days realizing she made a mistake by buying from them. They told her to come back on Tuesday when the original salesman was back. That was 15 days and they said there we would have to pay through the nose to cancel now. This scam and many other scams are used by these crafty salesman. The view you as marks! This happened in Puyallup and apparently everywhere else.

Every carrier without fail has a 14 day return policy. You probably signed paperwork. Read what you sign

Guest

Read the above statement and it would explain everything.

Guest

The salesman did lie to you about the original salesman being required to be there. That is dishonest and shady.

It sounds like someone was lazy and didn't want to complete a return (salesman aren't paid for returns).

However...

AT&T, T-Mobile, & Verizon all share a 14 day return policy. It USED to be 30 for everyone. Though the 14 day return window was clearly stated on the contract.

Honestly, you were absolutely misled, but you should own some of the blame.

Never sign without reading the fine print.

Now, if you weren't provided paperwork to sign... That's another ball of wax.

Called Down Like a School Child

I am an executive member at Costco who entered the Louisville store last Saturday clearly displaying my membership card in my extended left hand where I also held my car key. My fiancee and I walked thirty-five feet past the older lady checking memberships when she shouted at us demanding that we show her our membership which I was about to put away. I felt like a kid being singled out by the teacher for talking out of turn in class. I asked to see a manager because the way the door person had treated us was humiliating. Someone named "Debi Ang" came over and declared that the door person was doing her job, and the highest ranking person present, assistant manager Brandon Clark was unsympathetic and rude. I am sure that if Costco values our business so little that Sam's Club would welcome us with open arms.

Had the same experience with Brandon Clark today.

I am not only an Executive Member but also a shareholder.

Mr. Clark should not be a management position.

Guest

Sounds like the customer is a real *** but he writes pretty well.

Guest

Customer should be right as long as they follow the rules and policies and behave like humans and treat others like humans as well.

Guest

If you act like ***, look like ***, sound like ***, but cry like a woman, you must be this ***. I have shopped at Costco a thousand times and never had a problem.

All I have done is save money. This thread seems pretty stale, so here's hoping the complainer was on that Malaysia flight.

What a self-important *** this guy must be. Boo hoo- somebody asked for my ID.

Has this guy ever had any real problems or does he make them up to pretend he has a life. I will continue to shop at Costco hoping this dude dies a slow agonizing death of cancer, and if I had been there when he put the greeter (an old broad according to anonymous), my wife would have been bailing me out because I would have knocked Mr Privileges teeth out on the spot.

It's a members only store. You pay to shop there and, in return, get cheap bulk items.

I repeat, it's a member's only store. You have to have a membership to shop.

Sam's does the same thing. You should your card to get in.

No card, no entrance.

COSTCO MANAGER AND TRAINEES RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL

July 26 2014. location San Antonio Texas IH10 & UTSA BLVD. I went into COSTCO to receive my cash card for my 2% Cash back card on Executive membership that was due to me. This COSTCO location had called me, told me that COSTCO corporate had directed this location to give me a cash card for payment due to me. The people at the membership desk were very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. They promptly located the E-MAIL from corporate office, it told them exactly what was to be done. I was taken to A***N who was handed the E-Mail. A**N never looked at me or even said one word. A**N spun around with his back to me and started to read?? the e-mail. A**N then proceeded to look at the e-mail from COSTCO corporate, perplexed A**N the asked me, "you are purchasing a CASH CARD?". I said "No I am not, A**N said to me " this has to be paid for", still never ever looking at me or saying hello, I SAID" PLEASE LOOK AT THE E-MAIL FROM CORPORATE". He ignored me spun and walked to the membership desk. After waiting just watching his confusion grow. He came back never saying a word or even looking at me. Continuing to say "this has to be paid for"He called the manager M*****A. AFTER WAITING FOR A FEW more minutes. even though what they were to do was "clearly stated" in the e-mail from corporate. The manager ,M*****A came over with another person (also in training). AT THIS POINT NO ONE HAS EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED ME IN ANY WAY . SHE THE MANAGER PROCEEDED TO TRAIN HER EMPLOYEES ON THE REGISTER. I am standing there why they are trained on their job. When the manager completed her training session. "A***N SHOVED THE CARDS INTO MY HAND without a word or even looking at me. A***N turned his back on me and proceeded to chat with the manager and the other person. I leaned in and said " your welcome A***N. A***N turned his head for the first time in this whole event., and looked at me like i was from outer space and never said anything. Then M*****A, the manger proceeded to tell me that A**N did not mean anything by it. I told her do not like "snotty" people without manners. The manager M*****A told me It was not a big deal and started laughing. I told her "you think lack of manners is funny and how i was treated was funny". I told her "Where do they get you people with such lack of manners". I called the Regional Manager in Dallas and left 3 messages. WAITING.

No complaints!

Everyone who complained about the *** book "America" being taken off the shelves: I GUARANTEE you didn't go out and buy it. Wah wah wah. They don't sell every book. They listened to their shoppers and put it back out to sell. I love Costco! Great return policy. Great company that knows how to treat their employees well. Guess what!? You can even return your membership. SO, instead of sitting on this website complaining, why don't you walk right up to the membership counter and they'll refund you your membership in CASH! That way you can take your $55 and turn around and spend it at a beautiful Walmart. Cheers.

Costco - Disabled Customer Treatment Review from Brampton, Ontario

Hello, my elderly disabled mother and I went to the costco on billy bishop in Toronto ON, this morning 10 am, and the store was a zoo. We could not find a disabled parking spot because there are only 3 accessible spots for the whole parking lot at this store! This resulted in a lot of unnecessary walking for my poor mother as we only could find a parking spot far away. I couldn't even pull up to let my mother out near the door as able bodied people were loading their groceries, staff standing around doing nothing. It's obvious Costco doesn't know about the AODA legislation, and doesn't care about accessibility rights for customers with challenges. Really sad. Next time if this happens again and costco does nothing for accessibility as per Human Rights commission I will go public with my complaint and never renew my membership again.

Go ahead I m sure costco won't miss someone like u privileged princess. Only safe area for helping people load groceries in by the front door so costco employees and members have to abide by that rule if helping a member load items.

Busy day at costco and u want an employee to drop their assigned duties and come tend to your mom? How about u hire an aide to do that for your mom??

Newmarket, Ontario Disabled customer forced to line up and wait in pain and being lied to.

Long story short, have been with this costco pharmacy for years and running smoothly until several years ago when they changed staff and policies. in short the more recent bout of issues when they suddenly stopped accepting fax rx which you would bring in the original when you pick up meds. the pharmacy stated they no longer accept fax and that i would hqve to lineup to get the rx ordered and then wait again for them to make it. They were emphatic that NO other pharmacy takes faxes as well.

This may seem like a trivial issue but as a totally disabled person and nearly always in pain. I have almost half a dozen different pain meds which takes some time to make up and not always in stock requiring me to come back again, this is a major issue.

So finally after waiting in pain, i pick up my meds, popped a couple percs and stopped by the ”Metro" pharmacy across my road and asked about their fax policy and was very happy to hear that they will take them so long as original brought in. Thanx Carla :) So much for costco's lie

I have been with Costco longer than thier pharmacy staff, have been lied to about nobody taking faxes and generally treated like dirt and uncaring pharmacy staff with apparently arbitrary policies made mostly from the head pharmacist Eliza Chu. I have spoken to store manager, Tyler about this whole situation and said will look into it. I doubt action will be taken but i had to let them knowthat i think they are hurting their best customers.

At this point i really dont care and will probably be leaving costco pharmacy even if it costs more. They sure dont seem to care about me now.

Rule is rule. If Costco doesn't accept faxed script copy, then respect it.

Probably it's their rule to protect themselves from getting massive lawsuits. I don't see anything wrong with this.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1003643

I transferred my scripts to Costco from Shoppers 2 years ago because all they cared was profit making. I am a type I diabetes and the first time i met the lady pharmacist (i later found out she is the pharmacy manager).

She patiently taught me how to use the sugar machine which no one had ever taught me. Not even my family doctor. This lady also gave me lots of free strips and supplies along with a machine. I didn't even spent a dime.

She was not greedy as other people running in other pharmacies. I like people there a lot and I only shop at Costco now.

Guest

My wife and I have been dealing with this pharmacy for over 9 years and never have a problem. Professional and friendly staff.

The wait is getting a bit longer but the service is excellent. And the price can't be beat.

Guest

I have never been a Costco customer but it sounds absolutely normal that pharmacies should not accept faxed prescriptions especially for pain medications and narcotics. People can easily forge or modify their prescriptions over the fax.

I am glad to hear that Costco Pharmacy has such a safe system to deter crooks from faxing in forged prescriptions. It actually makes me wanting to switch all my prescriptions over to Costco pharmacy as they seem to care a lot about the patient safety.

Pizza woes

I am a vegan, so when I asked for a pizza at Costco, I asked for no cheese. The person taking my order told me she couldn't do that if I didn't get a manager to okay it.

Note that I had to find a manager, she couldn't call one over. So I dutifully went to where the manager was standing by the computer and asked if I could order pizza without cheese. He laughed at me (and I mean an actual, sneering, rude kind of laugh) asked what kind of pizza doesn't have cheese, and said that no, they could not make a pizza without cheese. Then he walked away, shaking his head.

Another problem I am facing is trying to find vegan food at Costco. They had Boca crumbles and Boca burgers, then got rid of the crumbles to bring in Morning Star (which is not vegan). Then they stopped carrying Boca burgers when it wasn't "grilling" season. I live in Tucson.

Every month is grilling season except maybe monsoon season if there is a lot of rain. In other words, right in the middle of what some fool living in another climate deems to be "grilling season". This year, they don't even have any Boca burgers, and don't have them on the shipment orders. This is a problem that I am always facing at Costco.

They had a nice hummus, but replaced it with hummus with egg whites and another brand with milk. Hummus does not take egg whites or milk in any recipe that I have ever seen. I talked to the man selling pitas and hummus at the special events, and he was outraged. He said that hummus should never have milk, because then it spoils too quickly.

I know a lot of vegans, but none shop at Costco. I wonder why.

I wouldn't if it wasn't for the carnivores in the house. We rescue cats, and both the cats and dogs do better on Kirkland food than any other in twice the price range.

Those pizzas are in essence premade and you can't take the cheese of them.

Guest

Costco is for people who buy stuff in large quantiies like soda, beer and chips. I am a Vegan and Costco would be the last place to get pizza, cheese or no cheese.

Get the Garden Veggie from Pappa Johns order from the web site and select NO Cheese you dont need a manager's approval.

What an *** probably ex Wal Mart employee.

Guest

I would have laughed at you too trying to order a pizza with no cheese at Costco. Wtf!

Guest

Hey, vegans, did you know that if you don't milk a dairy cow, not only will it die, but it will die a show, excruciatingly painful death as it's milk sack explodes? So.....milk and cheese and the like are actually helping the animal. Surprise!

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1072394

Hey ***, dairy cows only produce milk when they are kept pregnant by means of artificial insemination. Just like all mammals they only produce milk for their babies when pregnant and after.

Cows would prefer to frolic and play in a field.

When they are hooked up to these machines stealing their milk it is painful. So, no eating dairy is not good for you or the cows.

Guest

I simply cannot believe that a manager at a place like Costco would treat a customer this way. And why, if someone wants a pizza without cheese, this wish could not be accommodated.

As for the ingredients, I am sure that they would be able to give you a printed list of ingredients and calories and what not.

I hope you became a vegan with your eyes open and fully aware of what it would mean. Stop whining, live with your choices, and work around them in case the rest of the world doesn't see it your way.

Guest

This is why people do not like vegans. If you want to eat out and places will not accomodate you, you get upset.

You're on a specific diet, and if places foods aren't vegan, don't eat there. Leave the cheese and yummy stuff to people who like food.

Guest

Just ordered vegan pizza at Costco. Simple ask for veggie pizza without cheese, double check with the cashier that he/she understands that you don't want cheese or any meat--no problems at all--you can also order half vegan and half regular, again NO PROBLEMS at all and there is no eggs in Costco dough--LOL at whoever made up that BS (if don't believe me...

ask them to show you the empty dough box, the ingredients are in bold FLOUR, WHEAT, OLIVE OIL, YEAST, WATER, AND SALT http://goo.gl/EZRGGu).

Sick and tired of idiots like Cpt. Obvious making up stories without any evidence.

Shipping Problems at COSTCO.CA

I ordered a treadmill from Costco.Ca, I've got a confirmation e-mail letting me know that the item has been shipped and will be delivered, but, when I tried to make arrangements with the delivery team I've been told that they deliver ONLY 9.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday, and nobody can be home on that time interval. It was the first time in my life I've heard such a thing, and anyhow I couldn't possibly have known this when I ordered the item. Renee from customer service told me that this delivery time interval is posted on the site, but I checked the SHIPPING section of COSTCO.CA and I couldn't find it. Nothing to do, so I had to cancel the order.

Shopping

Bought a box of 30 aerius tablets sunday for my allergies on Sept. 28 at costco. Package was sealed . Returned home to p.e.i. same day. Opened it and it was empty except for the paper inside. Very disappointed they are not cheap to buy. We all ways do our shopping there every fall to last the winter months. Never had a problem until now. Package must have been tampered wit or the pills never have been put inside. I don't think I will buy from the pharmacy again. To make it worst it was on a very busy day Sunday and my allergies were very bad , but I decided to wait until we got home to take a pill but never got to take one.
