Lack of profesionalism

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Never experience such rudeness in my life! Last Saturday my boyfriend and I went to the Costco located on Bridge, Montreal. When we were ready to pay, the cashier told us that my boyfriend couldn't pay using his MasterCard since the Costco card was under my name, so we agreed to pay using debit instead. However, since we were not aware of such law, we had to return some of the items. There was this young woman helping the cashier putting our items into the cart, I asked her in French if she could put the items into a box for me, she acted as if she didn't understand me so I switched to English. At that time, she had no choice but to go and get me a box but instead of putting the items in a box she gave me the box for me to do it. I told her again to please put the items in the box, and at that moment she looks at me and starts THROWING the food into the box, I got really angry and I asked her for her name and said: "My name is Stephanie Payne if you want to file a complaint the supervisors are right there and walked away". I'm sorry but I do pay to become a member of Costco to receive such treatment. I might not spend thousands of dollars in your company but I do spend a fair share of money and I do not accept anyone to be treated this way. It is sad to see that people behave in such unprofessional ways especially when they are representing your company. I was ready to cancel my membership and tell all my friends about it but then I realized maybe Stephanie had a bad day at work but still there is no excuse for rudeness especially when I was never rude to her. I hope something can be done about it.

Kirkand AA Batteries LEAK!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Kirkland Batteries LEAK...in fact, eventually they ALL LEAK! AA are worse offenders.

I have been purchasing and using them since 2002. Why not use another brand? Duracells (also sold there) are more expensive and NO BETTER! All batteries constructed in China LEAK, period.

Today, it is all about making things as cheap as possible to maximize profits and more money for the CEO, then wrap it in glamorous packaging with slick marketing. We are living in a sea of *** products, and corporations are under no obligation or government control to do anything different. How long do batteries last now with LED's? Less than they did before with incandescent bulbs, because the issue isn't the wattage used anymore, it's that the batteries won't last as long as a higher quality battery made in the 1960-**-**'s.

Their quality was a response by the battery industry to sell just as much - or more - volume batteries as before the LED revolution, by lowering their standards to keep you buying just as many. Do you really think they would lose millions knowing you won't be buying as many? They are made to leak after just few weeks to few months when they should last years using LED's.

There is your answer. And they don't care, and they aren't going to change because of some consumer advocate's complaint.

This just happened to me,too! 1/28/2022

Had a high end LED flashlight that was acting up. Kirkland AAA batteries had leaked, but I figured I could salvage it with contact cleaner.

Went to get replacements from the closet and discovered that over half of them had leaked while in storage. Expiration date of 3/2027.

I've used hundreds of Kirkland AA for years, and have never had a single one leak. These will be going back to Costco.

Guest

duracell are just as bad Cheap dollar store batteries seem better

Guest

We have been buying Costco brand also, and have the same problem. Some corrode in the package before they are even used.

Several have corroded in the device in a very short period of time, for they don't last long either. What may seem like a good buy is a waste of a purchase. We just threw ours out....when we really should have returned them.

We just won't buy them anymore, because it's the best way to make a statement, and the only way to diminish their profits. If we don't step up and take control over how many are sold, things will not change..

Guest

I just discovered my ruined camera. Kirkland AAs Dated 2028.

Thank you for your post.

C. Wingo / Alabama.

Guest

mine leaked also cost is much more as it has ruined remotes.

Guest

Me too. nice desk clock had bad battery.

Clock is shot.

Checked other batteries and found 6 out of 10 leaked. All 2017 date.

Guest

Kirkland batteries have ruined several remotes and a small voice recorder. They are the worst batteries, ever.

Guest

mine leaked too and I found happens more frequent

Guest

My Costco batteries are leaking also. Only use them in high draining equipment.

Do not use them and remote controls, clocks, or anything that slowly drains the battery.

They have destroyed many of my items. I will buy them no more.

Tire rotation takes at least 1 hour

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Costco is obviously not interested in making this "covered service" with any tire purchase convenient. It use to be you could catch them during a slow period and the guys would just do it while you stood there. Now you can be the only customer there (all service bays were empty) and it will be a 1 hour task. When I asked why I was told by the supervisor that I was free to purchase my tires elsewhere. I will next time. Unbelievable. Costco has succeeded in *** me off multiple times over the past few months (long return lines with one guy working and others standing around, selling products with known defects - a Brita pitcher - after installing the filter, the lid would not stay on) Moldy produce. They are off their game!

I got cheated by costco tire services. they keep my old good tire and put back the flat tire.

when next day i went there, I talked to nick, at citrus height tire center they just say this is not costco tire and i can't fix.when i asked about my good tire he just say i am not responsible for that, how i believe on costco.

may be next time they take out the engine and put back bad one and when we go they just say i am not responsible for that. look like they keep or sold my old good tire in stead of install, and just install the flat tire, This happen on 05/01/2015

Been there a few time and I have yet to meet any employee there with a good attitude or a friendly remark. They all seem rude and do not want to help. They have some young workers there with a attitude like they are doing us a favor. Most of the time I just see the workers BSing with each other. Puyallup Costco is 100 times better. It appears as Costco has relented to giving the High School drop outs a place to hang out and give them a pay check is doing very little work. The employees at Costco in Tacoma represent exactly what is wrong with Tacoma !!

Costco - Tires Review from Clarksville, Indiana

Despite being a loyal customer I constantly ask myself why I come back when everything in the tire shop takes an act of congress to complete. First of all its bogus you can buy tires but cant schedule anything.

Then I'm told it would take up to 2 hours to out them on. 3 hours later still not done, but I have seen 4 tire shop employees walking around in the store and some of them twice. Bottom line is they are never timely and I'm sick of it.

Happens ever time whether I buy new tires or come in for a rotation and balance. I shouldnt need to block out a half a day for any of this

"Nice try, but there are no errors in my comment. I know it would have made your day to find one.

I'm so sorry to disappoint you."

There are errors in your comment. You have misplaced periods.

You have spelling mistakes. Perhaps have mommy check over your work since you are obviously retarded and do not see the mistake yourself.

Before you go around lying and saying you did not make those posts you already admitted to making the ones with the spelling mistakes.

If you do know about your spelling mistakes (which I suspect you do) then you are a liar and have bad parents who never taught you right from wrong.

Quanasia Fbj

I bet the tire shop employee walking around the store are either on break or asked to help elsewhere. Four hours is not half a day. The fact that you cannot spell `can`t and do not know that twelve not four hours is half a day makes me wonder whose care you keep stealing because clearly with that lack of education you are not old enough to drive, and if you are you are not intelligent enough to pass your driving test.

Costco - Shopping Bags Review from Nepean, Ontario

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I went to Costco in Dr'ville, Québec yesterday and when I got to the casher with my 600$ dollar full loaded basket, they asked me if I brought my bags!!!???? I said no, cause I never add to before, and then she said :"Were sorry, but we have put in place a new policy in our store which doesn't allow us to provide boxes to package your purchases" It's either you bring your own bags or pick up whatever empty boxes you can find along the rows while shopping." I couldn't beleive it & got really frustrated! I just bought for 600 *** $$$ and they cannot give me boxes to carry my stuff!!! Honestly, I almost left my stuff there and go to show them how pissed of I was. After a long argument with the casher, they finally when to get me boxes but beleive I am not about to go back. If Costco cannot not provide me with supplies to carry my purchases...go to ***! You won't see me again!!!

I understand being frustrated when a policy changes and you don't know ahead of time so you are inconvenienced, but I would like to share something that seems to be a secret: it's not the cashiers fault, so please don't take your frustrations out with them. Yelling at, or arguing with the cashier isn't going to do any good because the cashier is not the one who changed the policy, and they won't have the power to change it back. If you were that upset about or, you could have voiced your opinion with a manager, who may actually be able to do something down the road.

Guest

And they call Americans lazy? You couldn't collect your own boxes? I actually don't even use boxes, I pack it back in the cart, load it in my car, and drive home.

Guest

Several cities in Canada have outlawed bags in stores. If you want a bad you have to bring your own.

Don't blame Costco blame your government.

Guest

Around where I live no stores even provide bags anymore. If you want your stuff packaged up in any way you have to bring your own bags or boxes.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-922219

I totally agree with bringing my own bags if it can help the environmemt issue...In that particular case thaught, tell me it's better that Costco drop their empty boxes directly in the garbages instead having their customers reusing it!!!! The though the basic idea was to reduce our consomption not to have us buy new "reusable bags" when empty boxes can be reused.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-922276

Yup the empty boxes can be reused but on a busy day when the whole staff is busy trying to make the lines go faster it's better to grab your own boxes . Gosh you people treat those employees as your personal servants bullying them for what some empty boxes.

How petty. And yes I m glad the store policy has changed where the member like any other grocery store should bring their own bags/boxes to pack stuff in.

Wireless Advocates Will Not Honor New Lower Price

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have complained to both Costco and Wireless Advocates that my cell phone is now on sale for $100 less that what I paid for it. Both Costco and Wireless Advocates have a 90-day return policy and I am just a little bit over 30 days after purchase. I have emailed and then finally called both Costco and Wireless Advocates. Costco’s management supposedly worked with Wireless Advocates management to attempt to remedy the situation. Still I never did hear anything back from Wireless Advocates and then Costco said they are going to say the price-match is 30 days. If the return policy is 90 days then why can’t I return it and then repurchase it? I have gotten nothing but the run around from both Costco's management and Wireless Advocates management Buyer beware of purchasing cell phones from Costco's partner!

I ordered four Bridgestone Blizzak WS80 winter tires 10 days later went back for my 3pm appointment to have them installed all seemed to go ok until 1 1/2 hrs later still no word how the job was going. About 2 hrs later they told me they could not install the tires on my car because I had flat free tires on the car and they would not put the Blizzak WS80 on my car close to 3 hrs later drove away from Costco with out any Winter tires. I have been going to Costco from day 1 and I still enjoy shopping there but I will never order tires from them again, the people in the tire department that keep me waiting so long is just not right !! Costco's shrinking product sizes

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Hi all. We have been regular Costco shoppers for years and are getting more and more annoyed at the pervasive "shrinking product" issue. We first noticed this with one of our favorites - the plastic jar of mixed nuts. One day about two years ago, we noticed that the container was significantly smaller although the price was the same. We shrugged this off as just another example of a profit-driven company. In the months that followed, however, we started noticing this with most of the products we bought. That is, it is very apparent that there is a very organized, systematic methodology to shrink portion sizes regularly every "x" months. This is pervasive throughout Costco's products, although with many it is difficult to notice as packaging stays the same size. Now I'm certainly aware that this issue is much bigger than Costco and we *do* see it everywhere in society these days, however, Costco and its Kirkland brand have really made this into an art form...

Awful first online experience: site wouldn't take my address

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My first shopping experience with costco (which was online) was awful. 1. I didn't have a membership; I read in the help pages that without the membership I could still buy the products, but I would pay 2% more; since the product I'm buying is $650, 2% of that would pay for most of the membership, so it makes sense to buy one if I eventually want to buy other things from costco. I bought the membership. I didn't get my membership number right away (it took 8 hours to arrive on my email). I couldn't use the membership on the product right away. 2. I bought the product without membership anyway. The order got cancelled hours later, no hints as to why. I called customer support, they told me to double check names and addresses. I did, all was correct. I tried to re-order the product, fiddling with the address information. I changed "street" to "st" and back, changed capital letters to lower case and vice-versa, put my apartment number separate and together. It took me 4 ridiculous attempts to get it right. Now here is the pathetic part: I live in apartment 7 of building number 6543 of the street named "Twooneexample". In all my online purchases in all websites, I always enter my address as: "7-6543 Twooneexample street", and it always works. Not with costco. It happens that they have a hidden field for apartment. You can't explicitly fill it, it's not on the form; but when I enter my address in that manner, they SUGGEST that I change it to: "6543 Twooneexample street, Apt 7". Unless I ACCEPT their suggestion, my purchase will never work. To prove that it's a separate field, when you edit the address the "Apt 7" is shown in the field "Address Line 2"; however, if you are adding a new address and you put the string "apt 7" in the field "Address Line 2", the system will still SUGGEST a DIFFERENT address that is actually the same, but with the apartment inside their ridiculous hidden field. This is so annoying, I was very angry for having to play "guess" with the system to buy something, as if I didn't have anything better to do with my time. 3. Because the order got cancelled and it took hours to be cancelled, when I tried again I was able to use my membership. To my surprise, the final price was exactly the same, which means either I wouldn't pay more for not being a member or I'm not paying less for being a member. Either way, buying the membership was just one more annoyance and waste of time, not yet counting the time I will waste when I try to get refunded for this useless membership.

You can't buy anything without a membership at costco period.

The 2% rebate you read about is for executive Members only (110$ per year +taxes) and the rebate check is issued 8-9 into the membership.

Costco Winter Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I went in early this morning to get some winter tires for my truck. Lines started forming at 7am, and they opened their doors at 8. I was in a group with the first 4 people, and had a pleasant experience with them waiting. We joked about having a reunion next year at the same Dimond Costco tire store. 8 am rolls around, and we finally get inside out of the rain and cold. When I first speak to the cashier attendant, Stephen, the first thing I hear from him is a complaint about the day. It was as if my business to him was a disadvantage to him, even an annoyance. Because the manager couldn't get his employees in line and ON TIME this morning, my car didn't get into the shop until 9 am, even though they have 4 bay doors to work on vehicles. We decided to wait for our cars in the lobby. There was no reading selection sadly, so after the others in my group left I played on a gameboy. It was a bit difficult considering we had been waiting outside in frigid Alaska weather. Some complimentary coffee would have made it a bit more tolerable. However, no aount of coffee would have made my experience better. Stephen, the cashier/front desk attendant, was VERY rude to customers. Yes, he had to take phone calls and customer servic face-to-face. My career also has me do the same, however, it is NOT the customers fault. Not only was he short and uncaring to customers in the lobby, he took it upon himself to complain about customers on the phone, loud enough for the rest of us to hear. It actually made me vey upset to be waiting for my vehicle to be serviced. There was another employee, Shelley, who was not very customer service oriented. She was quick to answer the phone and put people on hold, but quickly forgot about them and left them waiting. Not only that, she flirted with my boyfriend as we were sitting and waiting for our cars, instead of doing her job correctly and actually SERVICING the vehicles in the bay. All in all, I have to say I am incredibly disappointed with Dimond Costco Tires. Although I joked about having a reunion next year for tires, I don't think I will be going. I may just take my business to Sam's Club instead.

Costco Savings Brochure.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Dear Costco. Every time I receive the Costco Savings Brochure I get so frustrated that almost tear it up. Please explain to me why oh why do you put $3,00 off, but not tell us what the total price is? This is not done in all cases, some are done correctly. If I am planning a trip to Costco I want to know what the price is in the Brochure. It just does not make any sense to me or to anyone I talk to about it. The next thing I will be doing is to put these questions on facebook and see how many other costco members are fedup with this ridiculous type of advertising. Who ever came up with this type of advertising is just plain nuts. I would really like to have an answer to my questions. Thank you for your kind consideration in this matter. Your unhappy consumer.
