Costco - Avacados are terrible
Costco avavcados as of recently are bland and watery. THEY ARE HORRIBLE. They switched brands. The bland watery taste is a result of hybridizing. COSTCO SHAME ON YOU.

They have started spraying them with a lipid coating that keeps liquid in to prolong freshness. It also makes them watery, diluted tasting and less creamy. If you Google it, you will find several articles about it.
I love Costco as much as the next guy but out of respect to my fellows costcoians I must say, don't buy the avocados from Chile.
This is Kip. I have purchased avocados at Montclair, CA Costco for many years.
Within the past year or so I noticed a difference. At first I thought it was just a particular "picking". But, after several negative experiences, I realized the quality had changed.
I don't know about the supplier, I didn't pay that close attention. Now days I purchase most of my fresh produce from Sprouts.
I was wondering what changed. I have to agree, they used to be much better.
I find the avocados at Sprouts fresh and green, whereas Costco avocados have bruises and strings growing more often than not.
This latest one was from Peru. Sprouts sells CA avocados.
bought at costco feb 2016
the avocados from chile Linda-vista brand were all bad, they never got ripe after 5 days. all 5 avos were stringy and dark brown inside when cut open an they were hard. coud not make gocumole
Avocados donโt ripen. I used to know exactly when to buy avocados so they would be ripe when so needed them.
Not anymore.
And when they do ripen they are stringy, flavorless and watery, not buttery Iike before. Arrrgh!!
