For computers, Costco makes it sound like they extend the manufacturer's warranty by an additional year. So it gives the impression that the original manufacturer would be the one offering the warranty. This is far from the truth. Cost contracts with a 3rd party repair shop and Costco acts as the middle man, further complicating the communications between consumer and the repair shop. They also use the slowest possible shipping methods so if anything happens to your laptop, be prepared to be away from it for 2 weeks or more to get it fixed.
My computer was sent in because touchpad was not working (it was physically deformed). Last I checked (10 days since I shipped the item), they told me a battery was ordered(!?) When I asked about what was done about the real problem (touchpad), they were clueless...
They also don't provide any updates without you having to call them...
