Over the years, I've been unhappy about Costco service. Or the lack thereof.
But I put up with it for price. When they first started, their price difference was spectacular. In most cases now, they are just slightly less. Superstore will often meet their prices, but recently for the first time, has beat them.
Calgary Costco is selling 6 tins of pink salmon for $8.99; Superstore sells the same for $7.99. If this trend continues, it makes no sense to endure poor service AND pay to shop there to pay more.
And their expansion to include an "executive" membership is just a prelude to an increase in all membership levels.
