Costco has always had a price for a prescription which is lower if you have a Costco membership. However even though you may be a member, if you have prescription insurance, you will pay the price the insurance company dictates. Due to the fact you have prescription insurance, Costco refuses to honor the cash out of pocket discount you are entitled to.

For example: Prescription price $38.00

Member cash price: $31.00 This is a pricing example of one particular prescription. Basically you are being penalized and discriminated against because you have private insurance. Medicare and Medicaid have their own rules and are not considered private insurance.

I was informed by Costco regional manager the company signed agreements with insurance companies not to offer the discounted price. Obviously Costco does not care about the best interests of their members, only the interests of the insurance companies

Be very careful before spending money for a Costco membership. It is my opinion Costco fast talkers make promises they won't keep! Why would you support a company that treats their "members" dishonestly?

Product or Service Mentioned: Costco Membership.

Reason of review: Read complaint.

Monetary Loss: $7.

Preferred solution: I want everyone to know Costco is over charging !.

One example of our crazy healthcare system and really nothing to do with Costco. Same in other pharmacies.
