Unsatisfactory experience with picking up a 30 chicken bake order that was not ready

  • - Ordered 30 chicken bakes for 5:45 pm; arrived 5:55 pm, none had started, no apology; bakes were late, burnt, and poorly packed.

I ordered a day ahead 30 chicken bakes to be picked up at 5:45 PM. $130.

I got there at 5:55 PM and the order wasn't even started. No one at the food court could explain any reason or what they were doing about it. I found the general manager and he said, 'Let's talk to the food manager.' The food manager said they were still in the process of making chicken bakes and if they cooked them, they were only good for 15 minutes after. I told him that is why I gave you a timeframe that I would pick them up at 5:45 PM.

Don't make excuses. He didn't even apologize. He left and the general manager didn't even apologize; he just said, 'Well, hurry and get them done for you.' That's it. By the time I got the chicken bakes, it was 50 minutes past the designated time (6:35) that I had asked for them to be ready.

When the food manager handed me the four pizza boxes with the chicken bakes inside, he said, 'Here you go.' Again, never an apology. When we got to our event and opened up the boxes, the chicken bakes were on top of each other, stuck together, and many burnt. Some in separate bags (must have run out for the rest). Such poor customer service by Costco, and no apology.

When you order ahead of time and give a time of when you will pick up those food items, you would expect that they would be ready. Not almost an hour later. We have ordered from multiple food restaurants such as Café Rio, Panda Express, Chipotle, BJ's, Firehouse Subs, Chick-fil-A, Jersey Mike's and have never had this issue!

The food was ready and on time. The Costco in Woodbridge, VA needs to get their act together!

Pros:
  • Affordable
Cons:
  • Food court cannot do big orders

Preferred solution: Full refund

User's recommendation: Do not expect any call ahead food order to be ready on time!

Concern About TERRA DELYSSA Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil & Refund Request

Hello Costco Customer Service,

Im writing regarding the TERRA DELYSSA Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil I purchased from your warehouse. After seeing ConsumerLabs report stating that this product may not be fit for human consumption, I stopped using it.

Around the time I began consuming it, I started experiencing skin rashes.

I cannot confirm the cause, but I wanted to report this as a potential safety concern.

I have already consumed most of the bottles, but my last one is only about 10% used. I would like to request reimbursement for the bottles I purchased and ask that this issue be reviewed.

Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,

Nathanael Regassa

Preferred solution: Full refund

User's recommendation: Review the report by consumerlab.com (see attached), reimburse all who purchased, discontinue product

Updated by user Dec 15, 2025

It has only gotten worse. I have no idea when the remaining appliances and mattresses will be delivered in spite of being on the phone with Costco customer service for several minutes.

Original review updated Dec 15, 2025
My wife and I just moved into a new house and ordered a refrigerator, washer, dryer, and two Tempur-Pedic mattresses and ergo frames from Costco.com. The total purchase was $9,758.70.

Everything was to be delivered by December 13, 2025. It is now December 15, 2025 and so far nothing has been completely delivered and to make matter worse, I don't even have a firm delivery date.
The first delivery consisted of the refrigerator, washer, and dryer. Two delivery men, who both reeked of pot smoke, showed up to install the appliances. The first appliance they brought in was the refrigerator, I told the man operating the appliance dolly to be careful not to hit the overhead door frame.

He hit it anyway and never even said he was sorry. The White Glove Delivery in this case consisted of only attaching the water line and plugging the refrigerator into the electrical outlet. None of the packing materials were removed, no shelved inserted, etc as described in the White Glove Delivery information. In the meantime, they unboxed the washer and dryer and found that both were dented.

Costco Logistics offered a discount but I refused. They loaded up the dented appliances away and left. Costco send an email informing me that the replacement would be delivered on Tuesday, December 16, then texted me that I needed to schedule the deliver that had already been scheduled. This was due to Costco's mistake.

Costco has yet to confirm when the appliances will be delivered.
The two Tempur-Pedic mattresses were to be delivered on Saturday, December 13, 2025. I received a call at 6:00 PM informing me that they would not be delivered that day. The Logistics Manager told me he would call me on Sunday, December 14 to let me know what time to expect delivery on Monday. He never called.

I called him Monday, December 15 and he still could not tell me when the mattresses and frames would be delivered. It is 6:35 PM on December 15 and I have yet to receive any notification as to if and when they will be delivered.

User's recommendation: NEVER buy anything from Costco that requires "White Glove Delivery"!

ADA Violation

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - QR-code check-in in the Optical Dept has no accessible alternative.
  • - A non-scan customer can lose their place; a paper ticket option is urged.

Costco's QR-code check-in system at its Newark, California Optical Department raises serious fairness and ADA accessibility concerns.

On July 30, 2026, I arrived to pick up eyeglasses. One woman was already waiting, making me second in line. Costco had replaced its paper ticket system with a sign requiring customers to scan a QR code. The sign listed no alternative for people without smartphones or for disabled customers unable to use the system.

Neither the woman nor I scanned the code. A third customer arrived, apparently scanned it, and was immediately served ahead of both of us. I objected because customers should not lose their place merely because they did not or could not scan a QR code.

The system creates an obvious problem: a disabled customer could arrive first but repeatedly be bypassed by later customers who scan the code. In theory, that person could wait indefinitely. Not everyone owns or can operate a smartphone, particularly some senior citizens and people with disabilities.

I raised the issue with the warehouse manager, who said she would forward my concerns to Costco's corporate offices. I also pointed out that Costco's returns and membership departments use ordinary first-come, first-served lines without requiring QR codes.

The ADA generally requires businesses open to the public to provide reasonable modifications and meaningful access for disabled customers. A QR-code-only system with no clearly identified employee-assisted or non-digital alternative raises serious questions about whether Costco is meeting those obligations.

Costco should reinstate its accessible paper ticket system or provide an equally effective alternative. At minimum, employees should be instructed to register customers who cannot use the QR code while preserving their actual place in line.

The basic question is simple: Why should someone who arrived first lose their place merely because they did not scan a QR code?

Pros:
  • Cheap prices
Cons:
  • Failure to accommodate disabled customers

Preferred solution: Costco needs to restore its ticket system for check-in at its Optical Department and remove its QR Code system.

User's recommendation: Let Management Know You Do Not Like QR Codes For Check-Ins

Disappointing family customer service policy

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Household members can't use parent's Costco card when the parent is away.
  • - Tire service warranty isn't valid for dependents away from the member.

Have been disappointed with its customer service for immediate family members and would like to share the details as a warning for others. There are 2 issues here:

A.

Children living in the same household are not able to use the parents membership to get items at Costco. (I.e: your 16, 17 year old or college age child living with you is not able to run up to Costco to get a few items if you are at work or tied up with other tasks at home.)

B. Children who live with you, but are out of town, such as with college or on a road trip, are not able to use Costcos automotive tire services to address issues (I.e such as for tires), even if they are paid for, without the actual member being present.

The details:

A. Costco only provides 2 memberships for a household (I.e one to each spouse).

This limitation does not support the reality of busy households where the whole family, including dependent children living at home, may be relied upon to handle shopping tasks. Many families depend on older childrenoften high school or college-aged individuals to run errands, including trips to Costco. The inability to provide them with their own membership card creates unnecessary inconvenience and frustration.

While I understand Costco may have concerns about card-sharing, its important to note that Costco now checks photo IDs at the entrance. This should sufficiently deter abuse of the membership system.

Dependent children with valid drivers licenses displaying the same residential address as the primary membership holder should easily meet any verification criteria while also maintaining the integrity of the membership policy to have their own membership card under the primary card holders.

This issue was written in a letter to Costco headquarters over a year ago without any respionse.

B. Another disappointment with Costco we experienced was with their automotive tire services. If your vehicle or your childs vehicle has (in this case) tires installed by Costco none of their warranty services willtravel with the child if they are away with the vehicle. For this specific case, tires were purchased at Costco near home and then later rotated at that same Costco.

The vehicle used by the child who is out of town for college, and they had an issue which required another Costco to check the wheel balancing for a rotation that was performed just 3 weeks earlier.

This other Costco said they needed the actual member to be present in order to conduct the service, despite having the actual receipt of the work done. The child and member (parent) was about 5 hours away from each other.

Neither of these issues is asking much for Costco to honor dependent older or adult children living in the same house as the parents- card holders or to honor vehicle service warranty for these same children.

Pros:
  • Hard to say with this issue
Cons:
  • Poor customer service

Preferred solution: Reversal of the policy written about. Better customer service

User's recommendation: Are there more people with this issue so we can start a movement to reverse the poor service

I've run into similar issues. Glad you posted something

Guest

There are not two issues here. There isn’t even one.

These policies were in place and available to make an informed decision to become a member. Your whole long screed is just one long whine. The membership rules are the membership rules.

They don’t exist for you to use disjointed logic and express how tweaks could make your life easier. Craft a plan for your household to obtain groceries and choose the best fitting retailer that supports that plan.

Appreciate the write up. Good point.

Elissa Rup

This is NOT poor service, you read the terms and conditions. Also, you DO NOT UNDERSTAND the policy and reason, even though you claim to.

Not to mention letting your "college-aged" child use your membership is letting another adult use it--definitely fraud on your part.

Speak to a human regarding my Costco account is IMPOSSIBLE ...

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Cannot reach a human agent; automated system loops with AI.
  • - Unable to sign in; recurring account issues next month.

Speak to a human regarding my Costco account. I just called 6 different phone numbers and have been hung up on 6 different times.

I have only gotten AI, which doesn't allow me to speak to anyone. I only get stuck in a loop of the same thing every time. I cannot sign into my account. Every month I have to call to fix it, and every time I'm told this is fixed.

So now it's the same thing; I can't sign in.

I have tried everything. How do I speak to an agent?

Pros:
  • Great products
  • Great prices
Cons:
  • Horrendous contact support

Preferred solution: FIX YOUR WEBSITE AND A WAY TO ACTUALLY SPEAK TO A PERSON!!!

User's recommendation: If you want to use the website to pay your bill you can’t. Every month it resets and it requires you to call them to fix it. Oh and you can’t call them because all the phone numbers are AI so you NEVER get to speak to an actual human. Believe me I tried everything

AI Highlights
  • - Billing shows a $640.49 credit and a $640.49 charge posted the same day.
  • - A $749.99 Costco bill is not yet on the card; please review with an agent.

It appears your accounting made an error IN MY FAVOR, but I really need to speak to someone to get it straight.

Could you please pass this along because I cannot solve it online...or I don't know how to.

Bought a mattress on 7/27 $640.49. Delivery's set up, and all is fine.

Except it seems you credited me $640.49 and then billed $640.49 the same day.

But then...I started checking my Costco account on Costco's website and found a bill for $749.99--not yet showing up on my credit card, so probably is a ghost. Can you ferret through this and make corrections on the billing?

Thanks so much.
